Actors and actresses have made a huge impact on Pop Culture. Whether they started from the bottom, or have gone to the most prestigious performing arts around, they all are deserving of praise. One of the artists is one the most critically-acclaimed female actresses of all time. Her name is Sandra Bullock.
Sandra Bullock was born in Arlington, Virginia to parents John W. Bullock and Helga Mathilde Meyer. Bullock was born July 26, 1964. Bullock and her family grew up around the military, with her parents meeting when her father was stationed in Germany. The Bullocks lived between Nuremberg, Germany and Vienna & Salzburg, Austria. For 12 years.
Their parents had very different occupations. Her mother was a European Opera singer, and would tour the world singing. Her father at a time was head of the Army’s Military Postal Service. Upon the birth of Bullock, her parents finally settled in Arlington County, Virgina. Bullock would cheer and perform in school theatre productions in high school. She eventually went on to graduate from East Carolina University. She received a Bachelor in Fine Arts for Drama.
Sandra Bullock is the name that is tied to the world “actress.” Her strong portrayal of her characters further validates her strength in the film industry. She also takes risks, playing characters from all kinds of backgrounds, personalities, and status. One of the first movies I saw her in was The Blind Side. Personally, The Blind Side is one of my favorite movies, so I’m a little biased towards it.
The Blind Side is a story about a boy who grew up on the streets after being seperated from himself and his mom. Homeless and uneducated, he befriends a kid at school. The mother, Sandra Bullock's character, becomes inquisitive about her son’s new friend. As the story progresses, The mother finds out that Michael, the character, is homeless.
Figuring out this shocking revelation, she takes him under her wing and brings him into her home. Michael is then befriended by the family, and never leaves. Based on a true story, Michael Lewis actually became an offensive linebacker for the NFL. overall, a heartwarming story about courage, optimism, and wholeheartedness.
I believe Bullock played her character very well. Her optimism and protective nature proved her character to be a force to be reckoned with. She is defensive yet soft, and that’s what a mom is all about. Her nonverbal communication was also very strong throughout the movie. She would get quiet during certain situations, and look very calm and focused. Personally, those scenes stuck out to me.
Another movie I’ve seen her in is Ocean’s 8. The story is about a group of female con artists, and hackers. Bullock’s character’s name was Debbie Ocean. The plan for them is stealing one of the most valuable pieces of jewelry ever. The jewel is called the JeanneToussiant necklace. A piece of fine jewelry priced at over $100 million.
The plan is the Met Gala. The Met Gala is one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world. Only the best of fashion and beauty influencers attend the A-list event. One of the celebrities has the necklace on. There is an elaborate plan to take the necklace and cash out on it.
I appreciate Bullock’s character, Debbie Ocean. Her portrayal of someone who wants better is strong. Her role in the movie is the mastermind. She created the plan, while the others followed along with it. She continued to play the leader. Throughout the movie, she was also the mediator, building a strong and reliable relationship with the other characters. Together, they became victorious, successfully stealing the necklace and splitting it in the evening.
