Olivet College Boxing Club Returns

By Audrey Helfrich

The Olivet College Boxing club is back in full swing after being temporarily shut down. The club meets four times a week, the females only class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and the co-ed class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of Blair Hall. The club is a great way for students to learn boxing skills, but to also get exercise and meet new people on campus.

“I thought it was a lot of fun, it really motivates me that other people want to be there too and it’s just fun to get to know people that you don’t really know,” said senior Miranda Pier.

The boxing club has even drawn some alumni to return. Alumni Alissa Belcastro returned to Olivet to coach the women’s training sessions for the club.

“When I was a part of the Olivet College boxing team when it first got here and seeing it all kind of vanish was really sad because it had started up when I was here, and it was really big and got a lot of students involved. I just wanted to get it started, they already had a guy’s program going so I wanted start something for females,” said Belcastro.

Everyone is welcome to come and should come prepared with a water bottle, workout clothing, and workout shoes, everything else will be provided.
